Womens Fashion Trends From Paris Fashion Week

Womens Fashion

International fashion month has come to an end – but not before giving us enough womens fashion inspo to see us through til next season.

Paris Fashion Week concluded the September shows and, as always, has delivered plenty of summer-appropriate trends for us to sink our sartorial teeth into as the weather warms up here in Aus. Here are five of the major womens fashion trends from the Paris runways and the city streets.

Micro Shorts

If the bike short craze is to pass anytime soon, the micro-short is bound to take its place. As seen on major designer runways such as Chanel, Isabel Marant and Saint Laurent, short shorts aren’t just for casual summer attire. From incorporating the micro-short into tailored suit wear looks or as a layering piece, the Paris catwalks proved that this trend is more versatile than we first thought.

Power Shoulders

The 80s revival in women’s fashion is showing no signs of slowing down. One of the great things about the power shoulder trend is that it works for both the minimalists and maximalists out there. For those with simpler tastes, a sharp shoulder on a neutral tone  blazer is all the edge their outfit needs, while others can make use of prints and texture to play up power shoulders.

Crochet

With summer just around the corner, we’ve got our eyes peeled for weather-appropriate women’s fashion. It’s been a little while since crochet has featured heavily in designer runways, but we’re always up for a trend that warrants a raid of grandma’s closet.

Womens Fashion Trends: Street

Mismatched Prints

Street style stars threw out the rulebook when it came to putting their fashion week looks together. Clashing prints as an approach to styling seems to get bigger every year. Some street stylers opted for unusual texture combinations on top of their mismatched prints, which made for an even more eclectic look. Here’s hoping this trend sticks and encourages more fashion lovers to play around with the statement pieces already in their wardrobe!

Printed Maxi Dresses

Compared to the looks served by fashion week peacocks, this trend seems rather laid-back. Showgoers in Paris rocked floor-skimming printed dresses that simultaneously seem appropriate for day and night events. Perhaps that’s what makes the maxi dress the perfect summertime silhouette. Add a dash of colour or a wild print and you’ve got your warm-weather uniform sorted.
