NEW ADELAIDE EVENT: SA Fashion Weekend

SA Fashion Weekend

In an exciting media REVEAL yesterday, South Australian’s Fashion Industry Association, SAFIA, announced a new fashion event to be held at at the new look Festival Plaza from 24-26 March. Tickets, starting at $50, are now on sale for theExclusively Inclusive” SA Fashion Weekend that aims to promote inclusivity on the runway and for those attending.

“This event is about inclusiveness. Not just on the runway but in the audience. It is a consumer driven event for people who may not have felt a fashion parade was for them but who are the people that buy the clothes that are showing on the runway. We want everyone to feel welcome to come to our events.”

Fashion-goers will enjoy live DJs, bars and food trucks. There’ll be complimentary drinks on arrival, gift bags to take home, incredible opportunities to be seen and photographed, and a party atmosphere to dance the night away. For anyone looking out for Adelaide events that are not to be missed, mark your calendar!

The Weekend Line-Up

The weekend will kick off with The Black Dress Runway by Finesse Models on Friday night (24 March). SAFIA’s SA Fashion Weekend the following night, Saturday March 25, will offer three diverse, accessible, and future-focused runway shows.

SAFIA’s 3 Showcase Runways

EMERGE – 5:30pm
Emerging brands and TAFE SA fashion graduate collections will feature in the first show of SAFIA’s SA Fashion Weekend: EMERGE. The full length show will be in two parts. An exciting line-up of new fashion talent followed by an intermission and then an athleisure, fitness, and lifestyle showcase.

SUSTAIN – 7:15pm
SUSTAIN runway offers an opportunity to discover the latest offerings by ethical, sustainable, and local brands working on fashion’s biggest challenges.

MOMENT – 8:45pm
The final runway of the night, MOMENT, also in two parts with an intermission, presents some of South Australia’s most loved and recognised brands.

Diversity

The show-stopping runways will be ahead of the curve. Models will come from different ethnic backgrounds and genders and will include healthy body types of all sizes across the three runways.

Particpating brands include: Peloponnese, an emerging, brand that understands the importance of size inclusivity; street label Nowa; Jutho, an avant-garde label; House of Campbell recently showing at Paris fashion week; ACLER and Significant Other – a success story from two entrepreneurial South Australia women who have created a business that now sells fashion across the world; Sunset Lover who are striving to make their garments not only beautiful, but compostable; Lakun Mara accessories that use traditional Indigenous weaving techniques; and iconic artist and accessory designer Tiff Manuell, who designed the branding for the SA Fashion Weekend.
