Fashion Designers on Show at
Fashion Est.
When people ask what is South Australia famous for, they’re surprised to discover that alongside the wine industry, South Australian fashion is a big contributor to the local economy. Now a new showcase of emerging South Australian design talent, Fashion Est. has opened its doors in North Adelaide.
Home to the next generation oF SA fashion designers, Fashion Est. provides a studio, retail and event space where creatives can collectively showcase their collections while sharing skills and knowledge that will assist them to cultivate their brands.
Open from Tuesday to Saturday in the North Adelaide Village, Fashion Est. is currently home to six incredible emerging fashion brands:

“It’s wonderful to see Fashion Est. come to life in North Adelaide, activating a vacant shop in a prominent retail space, while providing invaluable opportunities for these emerging talents,” said the Lord Mayor.
“The fashion industry is incredibly important to Adelaide and with the help of the South Australian Fashion Industry Association we think we have created something pretty unique. It’s not often people can go shopping and see the whole process, from concept to creation, while interacting with the designer.
These young designers are creating some incredible works and this council initiative is giving them a platform to take their business aspirations to the next level.”
The resident designers will learn important aspects of running a successful retail business. That includes, curating retail experiences and customer interactions, holding media and client events and offering the crucial infrastructure needed to showcase and develop their brands.
Fashion Est. includes a fully functioning studio space suitable for designing, cutting and machining. So while designers are creating new designs, the public is given a first-hand view into the design process.

The high-profile retail space has lounge and meeting areas, dressmaking and display mannequins and signage options available to the designers. It can also be used for exhibitions, events, and workshops.
It’s hoped Fashion Est. will act as a catalyst for industry partnership and entrepreneurialism. The spirit of collaboration and goodwill that underpins the project, and the in-store public reaction to the concept has been incredibly supportive.
Fashion Est. is open Tuesdays – Saturdays 10am-4pm and is located at Shop 20, North Adelaide Village, 67 O’Connell Street, North Adelaide.
