11am: In Coversation With…Fashion Talk
For the first time a shopping precinct is offering sustainable options and we just love that they are!
Anyone who has the slightest concern for the high rate of clothing sent to landfill each year will love to hear the work being done by 3 of Adelaide’s top researchers into making fashion more sustainable and equitable. For those looking to have a deeper experience on the day, the In Conversation With… panel discussion will give you access to industry experts and researchers.
Erin Skinner is a slow fashion advocate and reformed shop-a-holic who’s researching the psychology of Aussie fashion habits from a sustainability lens. A part-time Instagram influencer and PhD candidate in the relatively new field of Conservation Psychology, Erin’s research looks at the potential for psychology to influence fashion buying behaviours. This is exciting and absolutely state-of-the-art research with huge lessons for everyone who loves fashion!
Researching social responsibility in the Australian fashion industry, Josephine McKenzie is looking at how fair the industry is relation to environmental sustainability and opportunities for women. Whether you love fashion as a shopper, or work in the industry, this is one area that we all need to know about! Everyone wants to support, shop and work for those brands who are doing it right!
Joining them on the panel is Kyla Raby, and anti-slavery researcher, practitioner and advocate. Kyla’s doctoral research with the University of South Australia is related to the role of the consumer in eradicating modern slavery in global supply chains. Kyla is an international aid worker and currently leads an anti-trafficking team at the Australian Red Cross supporting survivors of human trafficking and forced marriage.
A serious business yes, but we promise this conversation will be as positive as it is insightful. The panel will be hosted by Cocktail Revolution’s own Stacey Pallaras, who is herself a passionate advocate for diversity in fashion. Book Now!
