GQ Backstage & Runway
One of the most popular runway shows every year at VAMFF is the GQ mens’s runway. Men’s fashion bloggers fly in just for this single runway. On GQ day at VAMFF, you’ll see Australia’s most stylish men milling around the plaza, meeting friends and fellow bloggers, celebrities and specialist men’s stylists. It’s a great crowd. Great camaraderie. There seems to be a genuine interest in getting to know each other and check out what they have in common, if only for the opportunity to collaborate.
As blogging becomes more competitive, we’re noticing a trend for the men to do it smart. They’re starting to merge their individual blogs. While they are still keeping their individual profiles, it makes sense for them to be seen by a wider audience by their cross-promoting. So they’re starting to work together on new blogs which are about a group of them, rather than just one of them. It relieves the boredom of a single style or feed and can make great reading.
Meanwhile, inside the Royal Exhibition Building, they came together along with front row guest and popular Instagrammer Roberto Mazlia, cool with a Capital “C” .
While the guests were busy mingling out front, we were busy shooting backstage and runway. Labels on show were: Autonomy, Bassike, Chris Ran Lin, Jac + Jack, PE Nation Menswear and Presentation by Strateas Carlucci.
Here’s how it went down backstage to runway…
