Wheels and Dollbaby with Divinyls
We’ve never seen anything like it at a fashion festival and we doubt we ever will again. Sunday night’s rock star runway celebrating 30 years in the business by Wheels and Dollbaby thrilled fashion & music lovers alike. Wheels and Dollbaby designer Melanie Greensmith teamed up with her partner Mark McEntee and his original Divinyls. They were joined on stage by Isabella Manfredi and Jack Moffitt from the Preatures.
The go-to design house for rock stars, Greensmith’s acclaimed label has been synonymous with sexy rock and roll style. Not to mention world-famous collaborations with music and celebrity identities.
With all the energy and showmanship of a major rock show, cheeky models strutted their sexiest stuff. Blowing kisses, throwing one finger salutes, pouting at the cameras and wiggling their butts in a fabulous collection of re-invented rock star garb.
Brought together by TPFF director Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan, the festival’s Creative Director said she had long held a vision for an event that showcased the synergies between fashion and rock and roll.
“Music has always had a powerful influence on style. Especially in the past five decades, the music of the time has had such an impact on trends. Just look at the 1960s and the flower power era.
Music has always been at the heart of the Wheels & Dollbaby’s ethos. For that reason I am so excited to see the fusion of culture and art that will come together in this show. I can’t think of a better way to close this year’s incredible calendar of events than with a concert and runway show of epic proportions. This, from one of WA’s best-loved labels and one of Australia’s most renowned bands.”
“We would’ve moved heaven and earth to do this show. My job is to do Chrissy proud here, but also honour the life of the songs and the original lineup. It’s a moment in time,” Isabella Manfredi said.
Sunday night’s closing event at TPFF was nothing short of an extravaganza. Here’s proof, starting with all the pre-show prep!
