Paris haute couture week is fast approaching, and will be featuring some serious Australian couture talent. Aussie designers aren’t complete strangers to the Paris haute couture scene, with designers such as Romance Was Born and Ellery featuring in the past. This June, however, four Australian designers are Paris bound to showcases their work in a number of ways.
Melbourne based Toni Matičevski will be showing in Paris for the second time, presenting a runway of his resort collection and some couture pieces, too. Matičevski was awarded The Australian Fashion Laureate Award in 2016 and is stocks in over 35 countries worldwide. His forthcoming showcase is set to elevate his designs higher still.
Paul Vasileff of Paolo Sebastian will be making the journey from Adelaide to Paris for the fourth time for couture season. Vasileff will be hosting a showroom of his signature couture pieces, which have been a runway and red carpet hit of late. Recently, stars such as Heidi Klum, Sharon stone, Lea Michele and Olivia Culpo have been photographed in his designs.
Both Khalil and Yusuf were approached by Mephistopheles, a Parisian production company which highlights newcomers and ensures they are known to the Federation de la Haute Couture et de la Mode.
Khalil has clients who fly from across the world for fittings in his hometown of Sydney, but hopes this foray into Couture week will allow more potential clients to see his designs.
Yusuf posted the news to his label’s Instagram account, stating; “This is a dream come true and we are beyond excited! All those years of refining our craft are coming to fruition.”
The week will undoubtedly be a fantastic opportunity for all four Australian designers. Paris Couture Week runs from 30 June until 4 July.
