Ready to take a break from binge-listening to true crime shows? Here are five top fashion podcasts that will keep you up to date with what’s happening.
Wardrobe Crisis
Since launching in 2017, the Wardrobe Crisis podcast has consistently provided an entertaining and insightful look into fashion’s biggest issues, particularly surrounding ethics and sustainability. Presented by journalist, author and all-round sustainable fashion warrior Clare Press, the pod delves into all aspects of the industry through interviews with new guests every week.
Clare also co-hosts Ethical Fashion Podcast alongside UN officer Simone Cipriani – it’s another great resource on how to embrace a better way forward for fashion.
The Business of Fashion
The Business of Fashion is recognised globally for its original reporting and analytical slant on all things fashion. BoF’s podcast is an engaging extension of this, tackling some of the biggest issues surrounding the industry today through interviews and investigation. Recent episodes include: Combating Anti-Asian Racism in Fashion, Somali Supermodel Man on the Struggle for Representation in Fashion and How Independent Fashion Brands Are Navigating the Crisis.
For interviews with the biggest names in the biz, about some of the biggest issues in the biz, BoF is the go-to.
The Collector’s House
Though not strictly a fashion podcast, The Collector’s House regularly spotlights the most talented names in fashion and the arts more broadly. Host Danielle Radojcin asks guests to select five things that represent and inspire them or which bear particular significance. Guests include Christian Louboutin, Mario Sorrenti and Val Garland just to name a few. Kick back and listen to the stories behind the items your favourite creatives hold dear.
Dior Talks
Whether you’re mad about Dior or simply interested in feminism and high fashion, Dior Talks is worth checking out.
Episodes feature guests who have impacted the narrative of Dior as a fashion house and who have influenced its creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri. Presented by London-based journalist Justine Picardie, the current series on the podcast is called ‘Feminism’. Previous series have covered the notion of the female gaze in fashion and feminist art.
Conscious Chatter
Another great fashion podcast for those interested in learning more about sustainability and ethics in Conscious Chatter. Host Kestrel Jenkins has spent more than a decade raising awareness about ethical fashion, and she’ll have you inspired to do the same after just a few episodes. If you believe you don’t have to sacrifice your values in order to stay stylish, you’re sure to enjoy this.
Greenwashing in Fashion
There’s another podcast we especially loved listening to, all about ‘greenwashing’ in fashion, recorded live at last month’s Melbourne Fashion Festival. Listen to hosts Jasmine Wallis and Maggie Zhou talk about influencer culture, breakdown how to spot greenwashing in fashion and chat to the owner of ethical clothing brand Rosa Rosa here.
