January’s Top-Voted Harman Styled by Pigeonhole
0
TWENTY three year old hospitality student Harman Sandhu had never heard of Cocktail Revolution when our photographer stopped him for a photograph in Murray Street, Perth. When he found out he’d topped the monthly vote for favourite style and fashion look, he was even more astonished than he had been to have been photographed in the first place.
Though excited, Harman, who came to Australia three years ago from northern India, admitted to being quite nervous about the idea of modelling for a featured fashion shoot. Styled by the wonderful crew at Pigeonhole‘s Murray St store, Harman told us he couldn’t decide which of the outfits he liked best. In the end, he gave us a list! Just as well the lovely peeps at Pigeonhole presented him with a $100 gift voucher. “I’m getting my friends together so we can go back and do a shop there,” he told us. “The caps were really cool, I loved the Happy Socks. The puffer jackets were top. And I loved their shoes.”
“It was such a new and interesting experience. It was fun. The photographers made me feel good and Kayleigh (from Pigeonhole) looked after me. ”

December’s Style-Fash Fave Julia Noh Models Leah Williams Designs
0
Last month twenty year old commerce graduate Julia Noh was attending the MADE Festival in Sydney. Julia had just stopped to have her friend take a quick snap of her, when “the lovely lady from Cocktail Revolution” also took a snap and asked for Julia’s outfit details. That photo ended up in one of our weekly street style galleries for December 2016, resulting in Julia topping the vote for favourite style and fashion look.
Julia had no idea she topped the month for Cocktail Revolution’s monthly style and fashion favourite until she received our email notifying her. She was so surprised. “So glad to have topped the vote, but I was very much surprised, ha ha!”
Usually sporting a simple minimalist style, Julia was happy to model for young Sydney designer Leah Williams, who styled Julia in geometric shapes and patterns, bold block colours and red denim from her latest range. Leah presented Julia with a gift from her collection and Julia also receives a Happy Socks package from our besties in Sweden.

October’s Top-Voted Daniel Stanning Models MJ Bale
0
Each month our top-voted fashionista wins a local fashion shoot and a fab big bundle of Happy Socks from Sweden. October’s top-voted favourite was Daniel Stanning from Adelaide who won a shoot with MJ Bale in their Rundle Street East store.
We snapped Interior Designer Daniel Stanning power walking – because he was very late for a lunch date – through Adelaide on a Sunday. Daniel was surprised and delighted to be to be photographed.
“It’s very flattering. Part of the reason that I dress the way I do is because it energises me. I always remember that famous Valentino quote “Only wear clothes that make you feel alive” and I find it uplifting to try and live by that. I love wearing colour and it would be great to see men wear it more. I would like more men to feel all of the emotional benefits of dressing mindfully. An excellent outfit can change your whole perspective. Of course, women have understood this for years!”
Daniel’s always been interested in all things art and design, including fashion. Working for a large-scale design studio specialising in architecture, interior design and urban design, Daniel finds himself regularly traveling to Sydney for a large commercial fit out project. “My workplace is also where I muck around with different ideas about what to wear. You have to take a few risks. Corporate does not mean conservative!”
“I’ve always been captivated by the way that men dressed many decades ago, particularly during the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. Old Hollywood movies are an absolute passion of mine, along with the glamourous leading ladies who would slink across the silver screen. When I was little, while other Aussie boys were idolising their favourite footy player, I was looking at men like Rudolph Valentino, Clark Gable, Garry Cooper, Cary Grant and William Holden. I noticed what they would wear, how they would move and speak. It was men being glamourous – this inspired me.
So I always tend to throw together a bit of vintage, a bit of ‘resort wear’ a dash of ‘Mad Men’ era – and voila! As a designer, I’m very interested in vintage furniture and fabrics, so a lot of the suits that I wear are vintage finds that I get tailored to fit me perfectly. You just can’t find fabrics like that anymore, and there is no item more important in a man’s wardrobe than a beautifully tailored suit.”
Daniel found out he topped the vote via email. “It was quite a busy and stressful week at work, so what an absolute joy to get an email on a Friday saying that I have the top vote! Completely unexpected, and it totally made my day. I rang my partner and told him straight away, and I think he was even more excited than I was. I dress for myself, but its lovely to know that other people like the clothes as well. I received my Happy Socks and they’re fabulous. A big thank you to all!”
Here’s Daniel’s featured shoot, with the first four looks being selected and styled by Daniel -who LOVES MJ Bale – himself.

Designer Jonté Styles September’s Top-voted Winner – Kaylene Bederson
0
Twenty year old Western Australian student Kaylene Bederson topped your vote for fave style & fashion look, September 2016. We teamed her up with popular Perth Designer Jonté Pike of Jonté Designs for this photo shoot feature.
Kaylene was having a bit of fun with friends at the Perth Fashion Festival when our photographer snapped her. “I was laughing at my friends looking at me and snapchatting me.” Totally surprised by her win, Kaylene only knew she’d topped the vote when she received an email from us. “Oh my gosh! I got the email… I was completely shocked!! I didn’t think I could be voted and win for that matter. That’s awesome.”
“I like to think my style goes according to my moods. It’s unique. I take a lot of inspiration from what I view online and instagram, especially with high end brands. I take something that looks similar and make it look high end. I love op-shopping and finding things that are quite different and mixing them together with different tones, prints and textures. I love putting combinations together that most people wouldn’t wear, but it works extremely well for me.”
Kaylene was excited to be invited to Jonté Designs studio in Balcatta for the photo shoot. Jonté styled five different looks for Kaylene to model from her latest range. Shot by Perth photographer Tristan Jud, here are all five looks. Let us know which look’s your favourite!

Designer Natasha Chiew Styles Clare Sayer

Our featured fashion shoot is with your top-voted August style and fashion favourite Clare Sayer from NSW. Clare is styled by emerging Sydney designer Natasha Chiew in Tash’s MERCURY RISING collection, a pleated range inspired by Islamic architecture.
Clare Sayer is Aussie born, married to an Englishman and lives happily by the beach in Coogee. #MagicSpot! Clare’s an events manager and freelance make-up artist and was spotted by our photographer in Clovelly when Clare was working on a shoot for Asos. “I was extremely flattered that, when surrounded by models, the photographer even asked for my photo!” Clare topped the vote for August in a casual white playsuit and denim jacket.
Thrilled to have been top-voted, Clare was also excited about receiving her Happy Socks and working with designer Natasha Chiew for our shoot. Tash styled the shoot and set it in the Botanic Gardens. An amazing backdrop, the Gardens formed a brilliant contrast for the dramatic hues and patterns of Natasha Chiew Designs. Photos: Alice Sciberras.
