Sydney-based Laetitia Liere was on her lunch break when she was spotted by our photographer Alice Scriberras in Castlereagh St, Sydney. Winner of your vote for favourite style and fashion for May 2015, Laetitia was about to fly out of Oz for an overseas holiday when we caught up with her for a photo-shoot. Meet Laetitia Liere….
I’m originally from Paris but moved to Sydney at a young age; my mother is originally Scottish and my father is from the South of France. I’d say that I am a total paradox at times, whilst I work in luxury, I can also be casual and worry-free. I’m definitely not afraid to get my hands dirty if it means achieving something. Anyone who knows me or works with me knows that I have an unhealthy obsession with my tool box!
When it comes to fashion, I think it’s important to recognise quality and subtle nuances in style – it’s definitely an education. I was lucky to be mentored from a young age by my mother who was the ultimate Parisienne, and my aunty who is an interior architect, but moreover a style icon in her own right! The last few years working for a couture house has allowed me to explore such a wealth of fabrics, tailoring techniques and expertise. I’d say my favourite textile would be double-faced cashmere. When it comes to jewellery, I am a fan on fine jewellery and symmetry! I am not interested in having lots of plastic mass produced pieces, I would prefer to have a handful of well thought-out, occasionally antique pieces.
I’ve discovered that I’m 50% creative, 50% analytical – which makes so much sense to me! It really explains why I am drawn to film producing and the business of luxury – they satisfy my dual being! Although I feel that many Gen-Ys share this composition…
The day Alice first photographed me I was coming back from a lunch date, and was wearing one of my favourite skirts from Scanlan Theodore as I was celebration my 5th Anniversary with my partner that afternoon. I was so flattered when Alice asked if she could take my photo, albeit extremely nervous as it was right outside my head office. She was quick to make me feel at ease and to inject some confidence in my system. Before I knew it, I thought I was some important blogger!
I was so happy to have received so many votes, but also very surprised as there were so many strong photos. When I received the email notifying me, I was so happy! Apart from all this, I’ve found an amazing person in Alice, and I wish her every success in her career. On top of all of that, I’m so glad to have been introduced to cocktail revolution as it is going to grow into a huge street style platform for us Aussies, something that is currently missing!
