This Week’s Trends on Winter Streets

Our love affair with texting is spilling over onto what we’re wearing. This week’s trends on winter streets pay homage to words on clothing, both in Australia and overseas, from statement (literally) pants to political slogans on tees.  Here’s what we’re seeing….

If the last few weeks are anything to go by, dungarees aka classic overalls are sticking around. Versatile, comfortable and reminiscent of your favourite childhood getup – we don’t blame you for staying loyal to this trend!

An easy way to add attitude to any ensemble, choker necklaces of all kinds are still doing the rounds. Teamed with statement earings or big collars as we’re seeing overseas, choker sass is definitely one big winter trend that’s styling up the plain round neck tee.

Whether you’re suited up or sporting a statement accessory, pastel hues are keeping our streets looking dreamy! Spotted on men in pastel coloured suits this week, even the poshest double-breasted kind works like magic to give drab winter streets a lift.

Statement Pieces (Literally)

Slogan t-shirts are a sure-fire way to turn a simple outfit into a sassy one. We’ve been spotting words on threads of all kinds lately – on totes, caps and this week – even trousers.Couldn’t think of a cheerier way to brighten up winter moods. Keep it coming!

White Hot

Sometimes, the absence of colour makes even more of an impact than anything else. Minimal and chic, the all-white ensembles continue to turn out heads (and lenses!) this week.

The Navy Sweater

Worthy of the same cult status as the iconic white shirt, the navy sweater always seems to reappear as a cold weather favourite. Classic and cosy! Teamed with camel coats, also on trend, or bomber or biker jackets, they’re almost a winter street wear staple.

Checked Out

Our friends overseas are still slaying the checked look, whether on shirts, jackets or pants, tartans or houndstooth, this is one pattern that’s dominating transeasonal trends.

Layer Dem Pants

While the ruffle rules, layering dresses, shirts and skirts have been dominating global trends for ages. Now we’re spotting this style trend in pants, by men. Love it.

More Statement Tees

This is one big trend that’s not going anywhere soon. We saw heaps of it in street style looks at  Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Sydney this year – splashed on everything. If you’ve got something to say, seems there’s no better way to get your point across!
