This Week on the Street – Trending in July

Fashionistas are dusting off their old favourites this week as the basic fashion staples dominate winter street style trends.  Styling is key, with dominant  trends fashioned to show individuality, personality and of course, to make a statement.  It’s the styling that’s catching the attention of our photographers’ lenses this week on the street. Here’s what’s trending in July.

Distressed Denim

Accidentally snagged your best denim? Not to worry, just make that hole even bigger! From subtle knee rips to denim so distressed it looks like it’s hanging by a thread, we just can’t stop spotting this trend on the streets. As trends go, it’s strong, continuing and absolutely dominating.

This hosiery style isn’t always easy to pull off, but you guys keep making it work! We’re loving the fishnet trend as an easy way to completely reinvigorate a casual winter look.

Patent Leather

A high-gloss detail in an otherwise classic outfit is bound to catch the eye, so we’re huge fans of the comeback of patent leather this winter. Shine on, boys!

Wild Print

It’s a wild world – just look to the streets! As we see less and less of the sun, we’re seeing more animal print emerge – in the form of cosy scarves, sweaters and faux fur jackets. Best worn anywhere but around the neck!

The Beanie

The beanie rules. Dress down a hot suit with a rad beanie, or hang easy in casuals. Either way, the beanie is killing it from Sydney to Perth and overseas as well! All genders!

Roll up, roll up! It seems you aren’t cuffed out yet, ’cause we’ve been seeing variations on the simple cuff trend a whole lot this week. Thicker cuffs on wide leg denim and unevenly cuffed dungarees are standout examples.

If the memory of your parents dressing you in flamboyant coordinates as a child still haunts you, it might be time to get over that fear. Co-ords are back in a big way! Currently one of the most dominant trends we’re spotting in overseas streets.

Put your best foot forward and dare to bare a little more. A thigh high slit is a sure way to add attitude to an otherwise demure maxi, as we’ve been seeing in international street style coverage of late.

Wine Red

Wine red lips, wine red faux fur, wine red accessories…anyone else feel like a glass of red now? This sultry shade of red is always a winner.

That’s it for another week fashionistas!  Don’t forget to let us know what YOU’VE spotted this week on the street!
