Street Trends of New York City
After the couture craze of the Spring-Summer shows in Paris, fashion’s most stylish names head on over to New York City for new season Men’s shows. From colour trends to co-ordinates, the style set always give us something new. Take a look at what’s trending on the streets of New York City.
Colour experts at Pantone gave us 2018’s Colour of the Year, Ultra Violet. So it comes as no surprise that this prediction has crossed over to the fashion world. Shades of purple popped in New York even among clashing prints. Step aside, millennial pink.
Street stylers abroad are getting their glow on and taking the bold colour trend to another level with the resurrection of neon brights. If the thought of sporting fluorescent clothing feels a little more hi-vis than high-fashion, there’s plenty to experiment with in the way of neon makeup and accessories instead.
Colourful & Co-ordinated
There was no time for subtlety for the colourfully clad New York show attendees. Co-ord sets in bright camo and floral prints stood out in the best way possible. Rock a set to make a statement.
A key trend to re-emerge whenever the weather warms up overseas is head-to-toe white. Lightweight white fabrics make for an effortlessly chic look, and topping the look off with a statement hat takes this to another level.
If the plaid blazer was the favourite item in local wardrobes throughout autumn, heavy plaid coats are the natural progression for braving this winter in style.

We first met stylist Juvelle Behrendorff at Telstra Perth Fashion Festival in 2016 and fell in love with her individual flair.
Describe your style in three words: My style often changes with my mood but if I was to put it into three words I would say: contemporary, tailored, eclectic.
Most prized item in your wardrobe? A vintage quilted Chanel bag I found in a designer vintage store in Florence. It only comes out on special occasions, it was one of the first designer items I ever bought.
Best piece of style advice? If you love it, wear it! There really are no rules. Nothing looks better than confidence and feeling great in what you are wearing.
Best advice – related to styling or in general – you’ve ever been given? Stay in your own lane. We can often be distracted by what everyone else is doing or achieving, especially now that everything is out in the open on social media. However, if you focus on what everyone else is doing (and essentially what you aren’t) you are going to miss your own opportunities or forget to celebrate your achievements. Everyone walks their own path and you never know what could be around the corner.

Even though it rained on our only full day in Florence at least I was prepared with an umbrella and raincoat. What I wasn’t prepared for, however, was my umbrella jumping out of my hand, flying through the air, and then hitting an Italian girl about 10 feet away. 🤦🏽♂️ So yeah… #truestory
