Tough Hair Puts Orenda Stylists to the Test
After we put out a shout out on Facebook and Instagram for Road Testers, Aurora Banez and Rasha Kardo were invited to try out a new hair salon that opened only a few weeks ago in Adelaide.
Run by owners Dea Tirimacco and Vicki Yeates, Orenda Hair is situated in Adelaide’s trendy East End. The duo describe their location, Ebenezer Place, as their perfect hub. Along with having managed hair salons for years, until a few weeks ago, the talented pair were also instructors at the hair and beauty training school at TAFE SA. Catering for people with work and other commitments during the day, their salon is open late on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as well as Fridays. Our Road Testers took up the challenge on a Wednesday evening, when the bustling salon looked like a hub within a hub.
Aurora recently went the chop from long straight hair to a bob and was looking to add a bit of body and bounce. Rasha, meanwhile, was looking to darken and straighten hers.
Aurora:
“I was going for lush, bouncy hair and that’s what I got. I love it. It’s exactly what I had in mind. Krysta, my stylist, delivered. She somehow saw into my brain and what I was imagining and delivered exactly what I had in mind. They also taught me how to curl my hair.
You couldn’t notice so much before that I had highlights in my black hair, but with the styling, you can see the them.
Not only that, but I had the most wonderful extended head massage while my hair was being washed. I almost fell asleep.”
Rasha:
“My hair takes a long time to straighten. They were faster and did a better job than I imagined. They were amazing and they did it in half the usual time it takes. I asked them for a dark colour. My hair was quite damaged from all my previous styling. The colour really worked, as it gave my hair a shine!
While I’ve had my hair straightened before, it’s the first time it’s actually been styled with waves. I’ve never had this before and I’m really happy with the way it looks.
I’ve arranged to come back for a treatment next week. On top of that I enjoyed my time in their salon. The team are wonderful people. ”
