Our photographers headed off to the Intercontinental to snap the arrivals on the red carpet for the Gala Dinner to celebrate Qatar Airways’ inaugural flight to Adelaide. It was a glamorous affair, hosted by the airline’s CEO His Excellency Mr Akbar Al Baker. Guests included South Australia’s much loved Governor Mr Hieu Van Le, and the Lord Mayor Martin Haese and Lady Mayoress Genevieve Haese.
The stylish crowd enjoyed a dazzling line up of entertainment starting with an opening sequence choreographed by the renowned Australian dancer Marko Panzic, star of So You Think You Can Dance. The fabulous entertainment continued with X-Factor duo Matt Price and Jess Dunbar. Stars Kate Ceberano and and Bonnie Anderson then took the stage singing together for the very first time. MC , the lovely and well-known radio and TV presenter Belinda Heggen also brought an added touch of glamour to the event.
As you’d expect in Australia, even for a red carpet affair, the guests were friendly and approachable as well as being decked out to the nines. As you’d expect with a black-tie affair, the favourite colour worn by guests was black.
As street style photographers, we prefer to snap people as they’re walking up the red carpet, rather than standing against the PR wall. Of course, the lighting, backdrop and poses are all much easier to capture when your subjects are standing against a wall with no photo bombers in the background. There are also fewer distractions in your subjects field of view – so they usually can focus on the photographer and look their best for the photo.
Guests included: Chris Kontos – Creative Director of the Adelaide Fashion Festival; Designers, Paul Vasileff, the creative genius behind Paolo Sebastian; Australian Fashion Label’s Dean and Melanie Flintoff, and the brilliant Jamie Sortino. We also spotted Myer Ambassador Kris Smith, Crows Kane Cornes and Rory Sloane and their wives and partners in business venture Cornes and Sloane, Lucy Cornes and Belinda Riverso. Masterchef contestants Laura Cassai and Andre Ursini attended as did 2014’s My Kitchen Rules winner Bree May and this year’s runners-up, Lauren and Carmine Finelli. Models Amy Rose Hancock and Harrison Luna provided an added touch of glamour.
PS: Qatar Airways is offering amazing fares for its premium class services to celebrate the launch of its Adelaide routes for the next 12 weeks!
