New Alex Tempany Jewelry X Danielle Weber Art
Inspiration for Melbourne jewellery designers comes in many forms and when Alex Tempany of Alex Tempany Jewelry first saw a mural by Danielle Weber that had been commissioned by someone who had lost a sister and niece in close succession, her reaction was overwhelming.
The two collaborated over the mural called Nelson that commemorated the two gallant women whose lives had been lost. Alex had been blown away after seeing the artwork online. Not long afterwards, in the midst of the 2021 Melbourne Lockdown, an idea came to her to bring this piece to life through jewellery.
The ambition for the Nelson Collection is to spread the strength and bravery of these two women further.
“You don’t know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice.”– Bob Marley
Based in Melbourne, Alex Tempany Jewelry is handcrafted slowly, to last forever. “My business is a testament to taking on hard challenges. I create jewellery to remind people that living bravely leads to a bolder life. I craft from pure metals, ancient treasures and unique stones. And because every piece is made by hand, no two will ever be the same”
Danielle Weber is an artist based in Melbourne whose passion and love for her craft is evident through her diverse range of styles and quality of work. Her work has extended to include original pieces for a number of high-profile clients including Hollywood actors, Olympians, sporting stars and this sentiment is what bought artist Danielle Weber and Melbourne jewellery designer Alex Tempany together to translate Danielle’s artwork into a limited edition collection.
“Danielle and I originally connected over her epic depiction of Aussie heroes during the bushfires. I was stuck on Lonsdale St in Melbourne’s CBD in a cab. It was 35 degrees, I was heavily pregnant and feeling sorry for myself, when this fresh mural gave me the most inspirational reality check I could have asked for.
So when the idea of Nelson came to me, I reached out to Danielle and she shared with me the story of the artwork. Upon hearing this tale, my arms were tingling and my passion for this project amplified. Our ambition for The Nelson Collection is to spread this strength and bravery further, of course starting with Nelson’s owner, who’s wearing the set in Sterling Silver.”
Every piece is made from scratch here in Melbourne, engraved and handcrafted from pure yellow gold and sterling silver by Alex and her team. The limited edition collection launches today, March 25, via Alex Tempany and Danielles Artwork.
