Emerging Designer Showcase
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia
Amongst all the incredible fashion style on display in the street scene and on the runways each year at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia, the St. George NextGen showcase is always a highlight.
Four rising stars of Aussie fashion sent their designs down the runway at Sydney’s Carriageworks last week, showing the industry-heavy crowd what to expect from the future of fashion down under.
Benjamin Garg, Chloe Mottau, Madison Hislop and Brian Huynh’s designs hinted at an eclectic mix of fashion and style inspirations while offering a fresh take on both womenswear and menswear.
Garg heavily embraced his Punjabi heritage for his collection, utilising traditional textiles, statement jewellery and an eye-catching colour palette of lilac, lemon yellow and orange.
Huynh’s MNDATORY collection showcased seriously suave and totally wearable looks, offering a fresh perspective on contemporary menswear.
Mottau‘s mix of sheer fabrics and hand-woven textiles flowed in motion on the runway. Hislop’s collection, explored the strength and sensitivity of women.
Enlisting a panel of industry experts to support and mentor emerging fashion designers, the St. George NextGen program allows a new wave of Australian design to reach a global audience. It’s an incredible opportunity for emerging designers to gain invaluable industry knowledge in the lead up to their fashion week debut.
The showcase offered a promising glimpse of the future of women’s fashion style in Australia.
We caught their designs up close, backstage and on the runway. Check out some of the talented fashion and style on show.
