Fresh Take on Womens Fashion
As is the case every year, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia had a lot to offer in the way of womens fashion on and off the runway last month.
During the hectic blur that is attending fashion week, watching a standout runway show really does leave an impression. The LEO & LIN Resort20 womens fashion collection was one such event.
Giving us a glimpse into what to expect on the runway, several high profile attendees and street style stars were rocking the label’s signature modern-romantic womens fashion pieces as they made their way into the show. Drawing inspiration from creative director Leo Lin’s Chinese heritage, the collection titled ‘IMPERIAL’ was an elegant and eclectic offering with a hint of storybook charm.
From high necks, voluminous sleeves and full skirts to sheer, tight and lacey numbers, the designs felt diverse without compromising the overall feel of the collection. An emphasis on layering, texture and ethnic-inspired prints characterised the styling. Hair and makeup for the show was soft and natural, with peachy smokey eyes and glossy lips accentuating the inherent feminity of the designs.
There are some major trend predictions to pull from the show, too. Folklore inspired details such as a printed headscarf makes for perfect vacation inspo. Romantic silhouettes are continuing to stay strong in the Australian style scene. Offsetting the more romantic elements of the collection was the footwear for the runway, ranging from classic pumps and black cage heels to flat combats and patent leather knee-high boots. The juxtaposition of folklorish feminity with of-the-moment edge might just be the perfect recipe for modern women’s fashion.
LEO & LIN has made waves in the industry in just a short couple of years, having only been established in 2017. Based in Sydney, the label continues to grow and gain recognition globally.
