Join the Revolution – Fashion Revolution Week

Fashion Revolution Week

It’s been seven years since we were all put on notice after the devastating collapse and deaths of over a thousand women and girls who were garment workers making some of the world’s most popular clothing lines at Rana Plaza in Bangladesh. Seven years.  Have you seen enough change in the  transparency of supply chains and the ethical manufacture of your clothing? Fashion Revolution Week is an annual global campaign held on the anniversary of this devastating event, to spur change in the fashion industry. It calls for a fairer, safer, more transparent fashion industry.

On this seventh anniversary, Ethical Clothing Australia is bringing together Australian Textile, Clothing and Footwear Union and business reps for an online panel event.

You can join the seminar. There’ll be a minute’s silence to commemorate the lives lost and the thousands more who were injured in the disastrous event. A panel discussion will follow about the rights and lives of garment workers locally. The conversation will cover the issues that still exist with protecting and upholding the rights of local workers. You’ll also find out more about the skills and talents of those who are making our high-end fashion and personal protective clothing. The current state of play in the time of Corona for workers and local production will also be covered. That includes how Australian businesses are responding, and what the future of the local industry could look like post this crisis.

Tickets are free. It pays to get in early. Thursday, April 23, 6-7.30pm, AEST.
