Hahndorf. Handmade. Handcrafted. Handpicked
The Adelaide hills artisan town of Hahndorf will celebrate its rich linage of craft culture, over a month-long festival in September, with more than 250 intimate events and experiences in and around the Main Street of the historic village.
Mikyla Gilbert, Marketing Manager of Hahndorf said the program was as rich and diverse as the traders in Hahndorf. “This festival provides a platform for locals to showcase their passion and dedication to their craft – whether that be making wine, jam or food, to creating art or simply igniting your curiosity to try something new.
“We wanted an event that invites the community back together, in a safe, but seriously fun and connected way. This is why all events are small and intimate,” said Gilbert.
There’s so much on offer! The program features more than 50 events and experiences including family friendly arts and craft workshops, men’s beard and beer nights, fashion workshops, food and drink masterclasses and many more, including FREE events suitable for all.
Cocktail Revolutionaries will of course be keen to learn how to make the perfect gin cocktail! There are also masterclasses in wine tasting, blending, and drinking. (Do we need to be shown that one?!)
For those of you interested in sustainability, recycling and slowing down the fashion cycle, you can join a textiles masterclass that will teach you professional techniques for reviving retro garments! Into accessories? Then you’ll want to learn how to make your own jewellery or pom poms.
Free styling sessions will be on offer in some of the local boutiques who will dress you in new season pieces that will become the core to your Spring wardrobe.
Pet lovers can make your own personalised leather dog collar for your favourite furry friend. For those interested in self-sprucing, you can learn how to groom the most distinguished beard.
There’s everything from candle making to culinary workshops and events that celebrate all things from chocolate and cheese, through to a German beer and food masterclasses. You can even go behind the scenes and taste-test Beerenberg jams in development and cycle the food and wine produce loop.
Even if you aren’t inclined to join a class, just walking down Main Street will be an experience in itself!
It’s a great opportunity to discover the sheer depth and range of the talent and produce associated with the region and the people of Hahndorf are excited to showcase what they can do!
See you in Hahndorf in September!
