Festival Style Trends From Splendour in the Grass

Splendour in the Grass Festival Style

Festival Style

Every year, crowds at music festival Splendour in the Grass wow us with their diverse festival style outfits. This year’s Splendour was no different, with everything from classic festival throwback styles to wildly impractical getups. Here are some of the major fashion trends from last week’s festivities.

Western Chic

From full-on western-inspired outfits to a dash of the trend in the form of statement cowboy boots or embellished belts, the cowgirl chic trend was everywhere this year at Splendour in the Grass.

Animal Print

Festival style and animal print are a match made in heaven. It’s no surprise that jungle-inspired ensembles were a hit this year at Splendour. As has been trending for some time, snakeskin definitely was the favoured print.

Twinning

Don’t just make a statement, make two. From violet clad fairy-child vibes to comfy and casual ensembles, stylishly clad duos stood out during the week.

Costume-Style

A major trend in the world of festival style at the moment is costume dressing. Wigs, hair extensions and head-to-toe coordinated sets were worn by extravagant influencers and experimental punters alike throughout this year’s event.

Pleather & Chaps

While pleather might seem like the least comfortable material to wear on a sunny day filled with moshing, the faux-leather look was trending nonetheless.

For some inexplicable reason – given the inevitable exposure to the elements, muddy lawns and filthy camping chairs that come with the experience – ass-less chaps were a festival style favourite this year. Taking cues from Coachella attendees in April, Splendour punters opted to have their backside exposed in the name of fashion. Or, whatever.

Festival Classic

Of course, Splendour in the Grass wouldn’t be a music festival without some classic throwback festival style thrown in. Think crochet, flared trousers and fur-trimmed coats à la Penny Lane in Almost Famous.

How do you think these Aussie festival style trends compared to those spotted at Coachella earlier this year?
