What’s Trending in 2021

Five Top Fashion Trends for 2021

After a year we thought would never end, 2021 is in full swing. It’s finally time to end the loungewear love affair that saw us through last year. So what’s the fashion forecast for the months to come?  Here’s what’s we’ve spotted on the streets and what we predict will be the top five fashion trends that will dominate in 2021.

Cut Out Detailing

After lounging about in sweats for any stretch of time, it’s no surprise that we might be ready to show some skin again. From midriff baring maxi dresses to risquér pieces featuring lace up sides or even faux-g-string embellishments, this trend has taken glam and evening wear by storm. Cut out dealing isn’t just for those who dare to bare, though. Think spliced bodysuits, knitwear with asymmetrical shoulder cut outs and intricate tie-up detailing.

Showing pops of skin in unexpected ways is going to be a major trend in 2021, in both casual and formal styles.

Big Boy Pants

Sure, we’re done with baggy sweats and stay-at-home leggings – but we’re not over feeling comfortable. Whether in classic hues or eclectic prints, when it comes to pants in 2021, the roomier the better.

A tailored but slouchy high-waisted pant will take you from work to the weekend. Whether you pair them with trainers or stilettos, they’re the ultimate chic wardrobe staple.

This trend extends to denim, too. We’re already seeing more balloon jeans and 70s wide leg styles than we are anything else. Even low-slung and baggy (yes, really) pant styles are fast becoming a signature silhouette for smart-casual coolness, thanks to the likes of Zoe Kravitz and Emrata.

These roomier cuts are great for balancing out form-fitting tops that feature cut-out detailing. We’re expecting to see plenty of this killer combo as one of the big fashion trends this year.

Face Fashion

Safety first. There’s no reason this necessary accessory can’t be part of your 2021 style. We’ve accepted that face coverings will continue to be a part of protecting ourselves and others, so it’s a good thing that there are so many styles on offer now – and plenty of ways to take a DIY approach, too.

You can opt for sleek and minimal, something embellished, tie-dyed or even emblazoned with a slogan. Chances are you’ll need a couple of reusable options on rotation, so experiment with the essentials this year.

Chunky Androgynous Shoes

Grandma fashion has had its moment. So it’s only fair that Grandpa style gets a look in.  Classic androgynous footwear has made a comeback in 2021 – only much, much chunkier. Brogues, loafers and oxfords with block heels or thick, flat soles are everywhere right now.

Much like the military style boot, this chunky trend goes surprisingly well with dresses and feminine silhouettes.

The ‘schoolcore’ trend can be hard to nail without looking like you’re in costume, but the chunky flats trend can add a pop of preppy-ness to any look. No need for shrunken shirts or mini skirts here.

Hydration Nation

Health is wealth, fashionistas. If the hottest ‘bag’ trend in 2021 turns out to be the water bottle holder, we’re on board with that.

We’ve seen a few high-end takes on this trend lately, and when an accessory starts trending from the likes of Jacquemus and Chanel,  it’s only a matter of time before it’s adopted across the board.

Unlike the micro purse’s major moment, this accessories trend is actually really practical. Styling your (eco friendly, of course) water bottle has never been easier.
