How would you describe what you do?

Did you ever play Stardoll when you were younger? It’s kinda like that except both men and woman.

How did you make your start in styling?

A friend I studied Event Management with convinced me to do a styling course with Perth Stylist, Ivanna Fontana. After my course, I interned for a year with a local fashion designer, Jonté Morgan from Jonté Designs. That experience  really helped me understand the Perth fashion industry. One day Jonté couldn’t be at a shoot so I filled in.  I really enjoyed the styling aspect. So I kept on doing more shoots and once I did a few, I got more confident to reach out and work with other creatives and found my specific style.

What’s the most challenging aspect of your work?

Judgement. When I tell people I am a stylist, they look shocked. Some people have even said to me “you don’t look like a stylist”. Certain creatives may not look the part but it’s not what people should look like but their work. Your work should always speak for itself.

Best advice you’ve ever been given? (Related to styling or just in general)

Believe in yourself and don’t care what anyone thinks about you.

Most prized item in your wardrobe?

My Desert Rat yeezys. I have been dying to own a pair of yeezys for the past 4 years so to finally own a pair means a lot to me.

Highlight of your styling career so far?

Working with IMG. It has always been a huge dream of mine. A lot of stylists I admire have styled supermodels from IMG. I walked past the office in Los Angeles and kept thinking one day I want to be able to style a model from IMG. Then one day, a photographer asked me if I wanted to do a test shoot with some girls scouted who were based in Perth so I basically screamed yes and was super nervous all day because I wanted to nail it.

Can you describe your style in three words?

Minimal, edgy, quirky.

Your advice to an  aspiring fashion stylist?

Be open minded. You will never be too “established”. If an opportunity comes up for you to assist a show or get involved with a project, do it because something great usually comes out of it.

Best piece of style advice?

If you love something and it makes you feel confident, wear it and don’t care what people think.

What’s next for you?

I have a few editorial publications coming out that I can’t wait to share with you guys. I also have some new, weird shoots coming up, so watch this space.
