2017 Perth Fashion Festival Set to Rock

Launched in the edgiest of venues, an exciting programme of 60 events was unveiled yesterday for the 2017 Telstra Perth Fashion Festival.  The Cloisters, an iconic, raw, nineteenth century heritage listed and convict built construction played host to over 150 of Perth’s fashion set, including designers, bloggers, industry stalwarts and sponsors.

Outlining a commitment to pushing boundaries and making fashion accessible to the broader community, Festival Director Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan mapped out some of the ground-breaking firsts of the 2017 line-up including an Aboriginal runway featuring Red Opium, a multicultural runway reflecting the diversity of cultures in Western Australia, an international men’s runway and another showcasing one of China’s top designers.

Free events will run from the 6th of September at Fashion Central in the Forrest Chase Precinct while ticketed evening runways, showcasing some of the most exciting Australian and Western Australian Designers, will take place at Fashion Paramount, at The Crown.

Christopher Esber will lead a dynamic line-up of local and national designers on Opening Night that will include Alice McCall, Bec and Bridge, Empire Rose, Albus Lumen and Monster Alphabets.

Always a highlight, the Future Runway will present 48 design students. This year, it’ll include a new category, Wearable Technology, that will showcase innovation, forward trends and smart fabrics.

A spectacular Closing Night is promised.  Celebrating 30 years of Wheels and Dollbaby, the runway music will be provided live by the Divinyls. The remaining members are re-forming for this one night only and will be performing with the Preatures in an epic fusion of music and fashion.

Now in its 19th year, the Perth Fashion Festival is renowned for punching well above its weight.  The 2017 programme, comprising exhibitions, experiences, cultural events and spectacular runways that Perth is renowned for, is well worth the trip for anyone remotely interested in fashion.

A national competition will see five lucky winners treated to an amazing VIP fashion experience.

TPFF 6-17 September, Perth, Western Australia. Tickets on sale from Friday 28 July. Highly recommended.
