New Label Launches Second Range
Adelaide based label Derma Department launched in 2018 to fill a gap for high-end designer pieces at an affordable price. The label is recognised for its textural and opulent fabrications. Each piece is carefully curated and made with high-quality and unique laces.
According to Derma’s creative director Catherine Maglaris, “Derma likes to build each range with luxurious fabrications and on-trend colour palettes. The inspiration for our collections come from the latest catwalks in Paris and New York City, but with a refined edge. We create pieces that can be pulled out seasons later and still be loved.”
Catherine Maglaris, who has been in the fashion-design space for 10 years, launched her brand with a 14-piece collection in March 2018. “Derma launched with a capsule leather range which started as an online business with zero stockists.”
Derma is now stocked at retailers across the country including Australia’s biggest online retailer The Iconic, Fox Maiden, Alina Collections and Wild Child Style Lab.
For this year’s Spring fashion collection, Derma is increasing its luxe designs, with new fabrics, updated silhouettes, and a broader range of colours, while continuing to focus on sophisticated simplicity.
“We’ve incorporated classic white and black silhouettes, but also added pops of colour in the collection. There’s also mango, vivid red and pastel tones,” says Catherine.“We always like to introduce a really feminine element in the cuts of every design, whether that’s a mini, backless, keyhole cut-out or leg split.”
The label’s latest collection focuses on classic and uncomplicated designs that become wardrobe staples. For Catherine, her almost two-year-old fashion label fulfills what was missing from her own closet – a multi-functional line with luxurious fabrics, but with modern details that could take her from a morning meeting to cocktails at night with friends.
