Hunt On for CIAF Fashion Coordinator

Jobs in Fashion – Cairns

If you’re on the hunt for jobs in fashion, a fantastic opportunity is still open for a Fashion Coordinator in Cairns. The Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) is seeking to engage a fashion Coordinator to produce a vibrant, inclusive, and culturally immersive Fashion Performance. With just over a week until applications close, CIAF’s next event will celebrate its 15th anniversary to be held from Thursday, 25 to Sunday, 28 July 2024.

Since its launch in 2013, CIAF’s Fashion Performance has evolved into an event that has gained national recognition for showcasing Queensland’s vibrant First Nations fashion and textile design movement.

A much-loved highlight of the annual event program, the past decade of the annual Fashion Performances has involved many First Nations artists, designers and performers who have embraced the platform for creative expression, intergenerational cultural sharing, and storytelling.

CIAF’s Artistic Director Francoise Lane said the organisation’s call for a Fashion Coordinator is an exceptional opportunity for the right person to work with a creative, committed, and dynamic team.

“CIAF’s Fashion Performance is much more than fashion for fashion’s sake – it is a movement that provides a unique space for artistic collaboration integrating dance, music, and art.”

“We can proudly say it was from CIAF and Cairns that Australia’s Indigenous fashion movement was ignited,” Ms Lane said.

The part-time role is for two years and requires Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity, cultural knowledge, or connections.

CIAF’s 2024 Fashion Performance will be presented at Tanks Arts Centre on Friday, 26 July 2024.  From its city hub at Cairns Convention Centre and select satellite venues, the CIAF 2024 program will run over three days from Thursday, 25 to Sunday, 28 July 2024.
