Telstra Perth Fashion Festival
Aje Collection Inspired by the Work of Brett and Wendy Whiteley
Effortless cool ruled the Aje runway at last night’s Telstra Perth Fashion Festival.
Designers and best friends Adrian Norris and Edwina Forest are committed to presenting sustainable collections that speak to the rugged beauty of Australia’s landscapes. Their Resort 18/19 collection is no different.
For this collection their inspiration comes from the work of artist Brett Whiteley and his wife and muse Wendy. Norris and Forest worked tirelessly with Wendy Whiteley and the Brett Whiteley Studio. It was important for them all to ensure the integrity of the artworks during the transformation into wearable form. The collaboration succeeded and last night fashion lovers were treated to a complete fusion between art and fashion.
The collection includes ultra wide-leg pants with front pleats, layers of ruffles, pleated ruffles, maxi slip dresses, oversized sleeves and angled hems.
Celebrating the label’s 10th anniversary, the collection also honours Aje’s commitment to sustainability. The collection includes garments made of hand loomed fabrics, hand-sewn embellishments and hand-painted prints.
Creative Director of the festival Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan said it’s “no wonder” that the brand has grown to have thirteen boutiques across Australia alongside a partnership with David Jones.
