Adelaide Fringe 2022
Coming into the most vibrant and festive time of the year for South Australia, the Adelaide Fringe 2022 has a lot to celebrate, including 20 incredible years of The Garden of Unearthly Delights.
With the launch of The Garden (as it’s casually known amongst Adelaidians) celebrated on Thursday 17th February, Cocktail Revolution got a sneak peek of some amazing and talented performances happening across the 31 day festival.
As an all ages, family-friendly carnival wonderland, The Garden has become one of the central hangouts for Fringe-goers across the state. Hosting captivating shows to suit everyone’s style from comedy to cabaret, circus acts to kids shows, sing-a-longs to drag shows, The Garden is a host to a plethora of global talent.
This year in particular has a stellar line up, as we got a sneak preview of the Blanc De Blanc Encore, as international performers grace the stage for the first time in two years, this is a show that’s never-before-seen until now! The glitz, glamour and extravagant world of vintage French flair balanced with humour and spectacular aerials, this show is a no-brainer.
Experiencing the international beat-boxing brilliance of The Purple Rabbit’s eccentric comedian Kerol was something out of this world. Kerol has an absurd yet effective talent and ability to juggle and beatbox simultaneously. He’s earned accolades including a Silver Medal at Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain in Paris 2011, Gold Medal from Daidogei World Cup in Japan in 2018, Silver Medal from Daidogei World Cup in Japan in 2017, and Special prize at Moscow International Festival in Circus Arts 2017.
We were also lucky enough to preview the world-class illusionist Raymond Crowe, performing highly visual magic tricks. Raymond has been part of The Illusionists Live On Broadway, NY and NBC’s The World’s Greatest Magic and The Late Show with David Letterman.
The final act we were blessed to preview was that of Gods, and not just any Gods, it’s the Head First Acrobat’s version of GODZ. Dressing up as mythical Greek Gods, these talented, other-worldly men, with the god-like figures to match, endure gravity-defying stunts and pure tests of strength and muscularity with comic twists along the way. We can tell why it’s such a popular act with the ladies!
The Garden has become not only the go-to spot for Fringe-goers, it has become an integral part of the Adelaide Fringe experience – mainly people will say “I haven’t even been to the Garden yet” as an indicator that they are yet to encapsulate the full-Fringe journey in Adelaide. Not only are they hosting these amazing shows and more, it’s the place to meet, eat, drink, and be social this Fringe season.
