Getting your spring style sorted? This week, we’re sharing 7 new style details you need to know about, that we’ve spotted on city streets from Europe to Perth and on runways in between. Almost all of them apply to both men and women, helping your sort your spring style look.
Both tees and belts are sharing their moment in the style spotlight, so it’s unsurprising that they’re beginning to be featured together. While it looks like the corset trend favoured with shirts and blouses has finally passed, the hot new way to dress a plain tee while making a style statement is with a distinctive belt.
Autumn Leaf Tones
This is one trend that’s hard to miss on northern hemisphere streets. Leafy autumn tone combo’s are eye catching because they’r so uplifting when everyone else is covered in darker hues. If you are one to plan ahead, start thinking autumn leaves for 2019’s chillier days.
Not too short and not too tight, boys. Just above the knee will do just fine. Frayed denim cutoffs work well too. Once only the domain only of beaches, shorts are increasingly being seen on city streets dressed up with blazers and suit jackets too. Can’t wait to see more shorts on our hot summer streets this year. So practical!
Block Colour Jumpsuits
The jumpsuit has endured and perhaps surprisingly, it’s latest incarnation on the cooler streets of Europe is in block colours. Note pant lengths are getting shorter again, and rolled-up cuff like hems are everywhere for both men and women.
Meanwhile, Aussies are having a love affair with white. Everything. That’s what we’re seeing frequently on Aussie streets right now. Our weekly street style gallery shows it’s an all-gender hot favourite.
Front Row Favourites
We spotted them on the runway Perth and we spotted them again at Adelaide’s Fashion Festival. Big name brands like Aje understand the Aussie love affair with monochrome and they’re playing it to best effect in print.
Sunglasses and style go together like wine and cheese. On Australian runways, they’re both unmissable and almost indispensable. Note to diary: with daylight saving during summer months, sunglasses are de rigeur for at least an hour after 7pm.
Street Stylers to Check Out
Perth based Instagrammer Alyssa (“name’s not alvssa” ) is big on street wear and big on incorporating trends. Adopts trends early (think socks and sandals) and incorporates them with street wear for the edgiest of looks.
Satorial style has never looked this slick. We first met Badara when he took Mercedes Benz Fashion Week by storm a few years back, and he wasn’t even on the runway! His super cool Instagram style may fool you, because in real life he’s as genuine and as warm as they come.
