5 Looks for Styling Your Turtleneck

Turtlenecks are still on-trend this season, keeping everyone warm and stylish at the same time. They can elevate your look for a Zoom session, or dress it down if that’s more appropriate. They also add value to your wardrobe because they’re so versatile. Here are five ways to style them to best effect.

Look 1 – Basic

For the biggest impact, simply style your turtleneck with some denim jeans. Experimenting with different style jeans to change your vibe. Wide leg jeans are a throwback to the ’70s, while slim-fit jeans look more casual. The wash of your jeans also allows you to experiment with colour. Pair a dark wash with a black turtleneck for a Parisian feel. Or slip on a coloured turtleneck when wearing a lighter wash. A black turtleneck gives you more room to play with accessories. Headbands, bags, layered jewellery and shoes can all bring the outfit together.

Look 2 – With a Blazer

Time to step it up with another wardrobe basic, the blazer. No longer strictly for the office, a blazer has become a weekend essential.

Traditional black and white houndstooth or red plaid both pair well with a basic black skivvy. Layer two to three gold chains over the turtleneck for some added style. To really experiment with colour, add in some silky scarves. Wearing them in your hair or around your bag handle for just a tiny colour pop.

While blazers look best fitted, try out a slouchy fit for some oversized vibes. Pair with straight-leg pants and a sneaker for an urban feel.

Look 3 – Under a Tee

Don’t let your band tee be just for summer. Layer it over a turtleneck! This look is best kept simple, so your tee does the talking. Use this as a chance to clash with your favourite colour combinations. Light toned greens and pinks work well for an eclectic vibe. Frayed hems on some dark wash denim jeans add in a little rock.

Look 4 – Under a Dress

Maximise the wear from your summer dress with this little nifty hack. Slip a turtleneck under a slip dress and feel free to style it up with some added frills. Keep natural colour palettes with creams, blacks, or tans. Or fire it up with some expert print clashing. Anything goes as long as you strut with confidence. Bang on a black low-heeled boot for balance.

Look 5 – With the Same Tone

Lovers of tonal dress can rejoice. It’s back in vogue. Creams, tans, blacks and white toned turtlenecks all work best with this trend. Start with a lighter base colour before adding in another neutral toned friend. For example, combine a cream turtleneck layered with a tan jacket and mid-brown pants. For this look to flow, each item must be either warm or cool-toned. Keep the vibe flowing with tan footwear. Add some luxury with floaty fabrics.
